The wise man prefers the good to the pleasant

 

The wise man prefers the good to the pleasant; but the unwise, through greed and attachment, chooses the pleasant.

He should avoid speaking words which will sting and hurt

 He should avoid speaking words which will sting and hurt and not strike anyone on the vital spot . But should always engage himself in pure , virtuous deeds , keeping his mind , all the time ,firmly on his duty .

 To Mrs. Tarkhad who fed hungry dog, "Sitting in the Musjid I never speak untruth. Take pity on me; feed the hungry first and then eat yourself."

 constantly awake.

 If one meditates on Me, repeats my name, sing my deeds and thus is transformed into Me, his karma is destroyed. I will stay by his side always.

Himself, the guru may be very powerful

 

Himself, the guru may be very powerful, but from the disciple he expects only a penetrating insight, unwavering faith in the guru and the strength of a courageous forbearance.

Never talk about the faults of others, no matter how bad they may be. Nothing is ever gained by that.
