To serve me, give up differentiation, sometimes I come as dog, sometimes as pig

My guru, after depriving me of everything, asked me for two paise

My guru, after depriving me of everything, asked me for two paise. I gave them to him. He did not want metallic gifts. What he asked for was (i) faith (nishta) and (ii) saburi i.e., patience or cheerful endurance.

Gnana Marga (path of knowledge) is Ram Phal

Gnana Marga (path of knowledge) is Ram Phal. Bhakti Marga(path of love or devotion) is Sita Phal. The pulp of the Sita Phal is almost on the surface and can be assimilated quickly, whereas the pulp of Ram Phal is deeper within and is hard to get at. 

I draw my devotee to me

I draw my devotee to me, at the time of his death, even though he may die a thousand miles away (from Shirdi)

Athithi is whatever creature is hungry and comes to you at the lunch time

Athithi is whatever creature is hungry and comes to you at the lunch time, whether it is a human being or a bird, beast or insect. All these seek food. The real athithi that you get, you do not regard as such ... At kakabali (offering food to crows) time take plenty of cooked rice outside the house and leave it there. Do not shout or call for any creature nor drive any away. Whatever the creature that comes to eat, let not that disturb your mind. You get thus the merit of feeding lakhs of guests!

Submit to Me all the events of your life. You shall be liberated. This is My promise.

For the sake of Brahma one has to surrender five vital airs

For the sake of Brahma one has to surrender five vital airs, the five organs of Knowledge, the five organs of Action, ego, intellect and mind.

Surrender does not mean mere prostration and service to the Guru

Surrender does not mean mere prostration and service to the Guru. It means complete surrender of everything, including the body and mind, with the conviction that the body belongs to the Guru and exists merely to serve Him.

I am dependent on him who thinks and hungers after Me

I am dependent on him who thinks and hungers after Me and who does not eat anything without first offering it to Me. He who thus comes to Me thinks as one with Me, just as the river gets to the sea and becomes merged with it. So leaving out pride and egoism and with no trace of them, you should surrender yourself to Me who am seated in your heart.

If someone ask money from you and you are not inclined. Deny politely.Don't bark like a dog.

One has to reap what one sows

One has to reap what one sows, and there is no escape unless one suffers and squares up one's old debts and dealings with others. Greed for money drags the greedy man to the lowest level and ultimately brings destruction on him and others.

Trust the guru fully

Look to me and I will look to you. Trust the guru fully. That is the only sadhana. guru is all the Gods.

If one meditates on Me, repeats my name

If one meditates on Me, repeats my name, sing my deeds and thus is transformed into Me, his karma is destroyed. I will stay by his side always.

I will be with you, whenever and wherever you think of me. Do not fear.

To such a one as me, when the all the workings of mind is diverted

To such a one as me, when the all the workings of mind is diverted, all the feelings are diverted, that is the true service and true worship to me. When one experiences the bliss of consciousness(Me) then he is in pure state which is knowledge. The Atman is Brahman; pure consciousness and bliss is Brahman. But the universe is not real and hence creates illusions about itself. In truth Brahman is me.

I am the ancient seer without the beginning or end.

I am not the gross form with mind, intellect and other sense organs, nor the gigantic universe. Nor I am the unmanifest Brahmanda. I am the ancient seer without the beginning or end.

But once the significance of ‘who am I’ is understood

Desires arises in mind and have no connection with Atma or real self. Since I (Sai Baba) am the embodiment of the Atman how can the desires stir?  Worldly desires are of many kinds. But once the significance of ‘who am I’ is understood, they melt away like a dewdrop in the hot blazing sun’s rays.

How can the longing of worldly pleasures arise where one contemplates on me

How can the longing of worldly pleasures arise where one contemplates on me with my name, stories, meditation, worship and remembrance in heart?

Further I tell you Shama, I full fill wishes of those devotees who chants my name with faith and devotion, in turn, it increases their love and devotion to me. So who fondly sings or narrate the glory of my life will find Me standing in front of him, behind him and everywhere around him. Those who are attached to me with heart and soul naturally will be delighted to listen to my stories.

Such a one (one engaged in arguments and quarrels) is not worthy of self knowledge. He is burried by ignorance alone. He can enjoy happiness neither on earth or heaven.

Gyana (Self-Knowledge) is matter of realization . It is not a subject for instruction .

What a Guru does is only removal of the veil of ignorance

What a Guru does is only removal of the veil of ignorance that regards the ego with all its myriad appearances and feelings created by the mind and the senses as the real self. This done, what remains is the Self Absolute, Real and Eternal. It is the Self that existed, that exists and will exist for ever. The Self has no beginning and no end. The Self is formless and is not limited by shape, time or space.
